With their second first-round pick, the Connecticut Sun selected UConn's Ketia Swanier. Swanier, who had a breakthrough season for the Huskies, will serve as the back-up point guard to Lindsey Whalen.
Swanier, in my estimation, went a lot earlier than she probably should have. That said, she will do well in coach Mike Thibault's system. She can single-handedly change the tempo of a game with her speed or defense. This year she developed into a scorer and that is something I fully expect her to continue to do with the Sun.
Coming off the bench won't be hard for her since she did that most of her time at UConn.
